I thought it would take forever to pick 6 flats of strawberries, but it took just under an hour and a half, with J and I picking and S "helping". She was pretty cute though!!

I especially liked when she would pick one and say "I'm going to take a bite and see if this is a good one." Ok honey. "Yeah, it's a good one. I'm going to put it in my box."
Ha ha!!

We picked 6 flats of the yummiest strawberries!!

We certainly didn't miss out on eating as many as we wanted!!

And of course, what goes better with strawberries than shortcake?!

It was my first time making it- but I think I did a pretty good job.
J liked them. I told him they were for Father's Day.

Ok, so they were for Father's Day too! We had a picnic barbeque outside. It was a pretty lovely time! I hope all the father's out there had a wonderful Father's Day!! Especially mine. <3
ETA: I totally forgot to let you know the recipe I used for the shortcake. Well, it is in m very own recipe index now and you can see it here.
And this one, I have been holding off on for a long long time!! Surely not from laziness, though!

I got the idea for this pincushion from a lady who makes GORGEOUS pin cushions with 2 liter bottle caps. Of course, I can't remember her blog address or anything.
Anyway, I took it and morphed into these- with wool felt on the bottom and side, and your favorite fabric covering the top. At the end, I embroidered the side of the pincushion to complement the design on the fabric.

These pincushions are super easy, I like to whip up a bunch one day and then I can take them to the park and embroider their little sides while I watch Sabine play at the park. It's really lovely.
So, yeah! Check out the tutorial on how to make them, and don't forget to tell me how you do with them!

Summer, of course, starts this weekend, but we thought we would get a little head start, what with the gorgeous weather we've been having. Here we broke out the fire pit for the first time, and thoroughly enjoyed roasting hot dogs over the warm fire and perhaps we even sang a campfire song.

I hope there will be more to come, there is just something about the smell of campfires and outdoors that makes the summer so much better!
