Altered Art Projects ->
Image Transfers

You will need:
acetone
cotton balls
recieving paper
a photocopied image to transfer
a clean work surface
1. Lay the image face down on your recieving paper. Put a little acetone on your cotton ball*. Just enough that it is wet- not dripping.
2. Hold the image firmly in place as you rub the cotton ball firmly over the back of the image.
3. Gently lift the corner to see if the image transfered. If not, repeat the above process.
4. Gently lift off the transferred image to reveal your image transfer below!
Note: This process works best with a freshly photocopied image.
  • Try using a cotton swab for smaller images to get a more directed, less messy transfer. Just dip the cotton swab in the acetone.
  • You can also use acetone based nail polish remover.
  • Do not pour the acetone into anything plastic (learned from personal experience).
