Cooking With Children

I think cooking is not only a really important skill for children to learn, but it's an awesome way to do fun actitivies that can really turn out in interesting ways. If children are allowed to help cook meals, they are also more likely to eat it! Cooking activities are easy to add in to any theme, because you can make recipes fit your theme based on ingredients or the final product.

The trick to cooking with a large group of children is figuring out how to make individual portions. Using individual portions allows each child to make their very own creation. For doing individual cooking, you need a cooking set for each child. The items that you need are:
2 melamine mixing bowls in 2 sizes
mini cutting board
fork
serrated plastic knife
spoon
color coded measuring cups
color coded measuring spoons
mini spatula

You can even get miniature muffin tins and baking trays if you want, but I find them to be superfluous. Group baking seems to work just fine.
