A top to go with the gathered skirt....
Well, we got the camera back. (Turns out that we had it all along, it was in a basket we brought home.)
And here is the top I really wanted to show off. I made this because I felt that Sabine needed something cute for the rehearsal dinner of the wedding she was in. It’s wrinkled because she had been in the car for two hours at that point driving from here to Portland.
There it is in all it’s glory- short sleeve raglan, with huge flowers!
And the skirt twirls really well too!
A list. Things I enjoy about summer.....
Well, I wanted to share the top I made to go with Sabine’s twirly skirt from the last post. And I wanted to share the denim skirt I made to go with the bird shirt. And I wanted to share the twirly skirt I made myself. And I wanted to share the pictures from Sabine being a flower girl.
But I left the camera up at the campsite this past weekend, with all the pictures on it, so I can’t share any of that until next week after I get the camera back. Sheesh.
So, instead, I will make a list. This is a list of Things I Enjoy About Summer. And if you know me, you know that there’s not much. But there’s only a month left of summer, so I should enjoy it while it’s here, right? Yeah… anyway…
1. Waking up to a beautiful bright yard
2. Laying around in the yard watching the children play.
3. Fresh fruits and vegetables as much as I want whenever I want.
4. Barbeque-ing every chance we get.
5. Making my favorite pasta salad.
6. Swimming.
7. Camping occasionally.
8. The cool mornings with dew sitting on the grass.
9. Opening all the windows and letting the breeze in.
10. Eating outside.
Yeah- I’m going to leave it at 10 because I shouldn’t drag it out too far. Don’t worry- fall will be soon!
Wait A Sec! My Serger Can Do What?!?!?!
Why, it can gather! What a joyous day! And it gathers really well, so I made this skirt for Sabine:
Then, I was so excited about it, I thought I should write a tutorial! I was thinking I would write the tutorial sometime next week, but motivation overcame and I did it today!! Here’s the second one I made her:
It’s also the one that I wrote the tutorial with. So, yeah… check out the newest tutorial (click here)!!
Start of the fall sewing!!
I decided that Sabine has enough summer clothing, and with summer being mostly over, it’s time to start sewing for fall!
Problem is… I had no inspiration… I didn’t know where to start! (This was paired with finishing up on the gaucho pattern, and ending a project always makes me at a loss of what to do next.)
So I asked for help over at DSD and a lot of suggestions were offered for patterns that I don’t have. I searched and searched through the Farbenmix and on Etsy and other sites and I drew a bunch of ideas and finally came up with ideas for some fall wardrobe outfits. Ok, ok, enough chit… let’s get to some pictures, right!!
My raglan pattern with long open sleeves and adorable applique. Fabric is from two awesome divas and the applique idea came from this etsy seller.
Thanks for looking!
I'm in spring roll heaven!!
Yum, yum!!
I made a bunch of these Baked Spring Rolls for J’s lunches today. Of course traditionally, spring rolls are fried, but I wanted to bake not only for the health reasons, but because when I make a bunch to stock up like I do, it takes a lot of oil!!
It’s just like rolling up a burrito, and then they’re baked 15 minutes in a 400 degree oven. I prefer to drizzle a little soy sauce on, but dipping is good too. The wrapper is so crispy!! So yummy!! They freeze really well too, I wrap them up individually and then J can just grab one or two for his lunches, a long with a tiny bottle of soy sauce!
Oh, did I mention I made a tutorial? Check it out!! Tell me what you think!
